American students are leaving money on the table. Each year there is around $100 million in unclaimed scholarships in the U.S.
South Carolina offers the Hope, Life, and Palmetto Fellows scholarships to students who stay in-state and meet certain GPA/Rank/Test Score requirements.
According to College Board, "The average cost of tuition and fees is $9,410 for residents attending in state public colleges, $23,900 for out of state residents, and $32,405 for residents attending private universities.
Colleges offer a variety of scholarships specific to their college that you should review on their websites.

Check with your parents place of employment, banks/credit unions, law offices, and sororities for scholarship opportunities.
Apply for one scholarship every 2 weeks. It doesn’t have to be a detailed- find scholarships that don’t require an essay or recommendation.
Make sure you have an up to date high school resume to give to teachers'/counselors' who may write you a letter of recommendation.
Get involved! Scholarship committees like to see involvement in the school and community.
There are many apps and web searches that yield wonderful scholarships as well.
If you spend 20 hours applying and searching for scholarships and you get one $500 scholarship from everything you applied for, you just earned $25 an hour. So get out there and start searching!
